Gazette
The Egyptian Gazette, the Middle East's oldest English-language newspaper,
first appeared on January 26, 1880. It was set and printed in Alexandria as a four-page weekly
tabloid. The newspaper was founded by five Britons including Andrew Philip as
Editor, and Moberly Bell who later became Managing Editor of The Times of
London. In the 1930s, Cairo became more important as a news centre
than Alexandria and the newspaper's offices were moved to the Egyptian capital
on February 28, 1938.

MEMRI: Egypt
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) explores the Middle East
through the region's media. MEMRI bridges the language gap which exists between
the West and the Middle East, providing timely translations of Arabic,
Persian,Turkish, Urdu-Pashtu media, as well as original analysis of political,
ideological, intellectual, social, cultural, and religious trends in the Middle
East.
Founded in February 1998 to inform the debate over U.S. policy in the Middle
East, MEMRI is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit, 501 (c)3 organization.
MEMRI's headquarters is located in Washington, DC with branch offices in London,
Tokyo, Rome, Baghdad, Shanghai, and Jerusalem. MEMRI research is translated to
English, German, Hebrew, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and
Japanese.
Middle East News Agency
(MENA)
The Middle East News Agency was established on 15 December 1955 as a
joint stock company owned by Egyptian press establishments with a capital which
did not exceed at the time LE 20,000 . Months later ,the government contributed
half this sum. On 8 February 1956, the Egyptian Council of Ministers took a decision to
establish the agency and on 28 February, it began to distribute its first
bulletin by rondo. On 16 April 1956, MENA
began to transmit its service on Tickers as the first regional news agency in
the Middle East.
MENA is now one of strongest regional news agencies and the biggest Arab
and African agency as it rated 11th on the list of international news agencies
(according to UNESCO's report).

Middle East Times is a web based daily newspaper, owned by News World Communications and published in Washington, D.C..
The Middle East Times provides comprehensive analysis on the Middle East, news and opinion.The publication has been around for
26 years. It was previously based in Cairo, Egypt, which is why many references to the paper still refer to it as Cairo-based.
The Middle East Times (MET) is published five days a week (Mon.-Fri.), a mix of analysis, news stories, commentary, interviews,
and special reports.MET asserts that it is the only publication fully dedicated to covering the Greater Middle East (from North
Africa to Pakistan, and beyond) that is non-partisan.

Information Service
Established in 1954, Egypt State Information Service is the nation’s main informational, awareness and public relations agency.
Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) is headed by ambassador Ismail Khairat.
Currently, SIS is an agency of the Ministry of Information. Additionally, SIS acts as an institutional media advisor to the
Presidency of the Republic and Cabinet.
SIS serves the nation through its headquarters in Cairo and its network of 64 domestic and 32 international media offices.
